The Christkindelsmärik and the other markets across the Grande Île. The city’s Christmas FAQ publishes Friday 27 November to Thursday 24 December 2026.

The season

Opening day, 27 November, 14:00–21:00. Then daily 11:00–21:00. On 24 December, 11:00–18:00. The FAQ says the chalets close for good that evening: nothing is open on 25 December or through New Year.

What to notice

• Visit Strasbourg’s capital-of-Christmas pages describe the Christkindelsmärik on Place Broglie as the historic market, and the great tree on Place Kléber.
• There is not one market. Allow time to walk between them, or choose two and ignore the rest.

What to eat and drink

Unless a sentence names its source, these are specialities associated with the city, not a confirmed menu for 2026. Stall lists change every season.

• The tourism pages describe mulled wine with cinnamon, clove and citrus at the Christkindelsmärik. That is as specific as the official text gets.
• Flammekueche and bredele, the Alsatian biscuits, are the region’s food. They are not a published 2026 stall list.

Planning notes

• The FAQ itself suggests morning, from 11:00, or a weekday, if you want the lanes to move.
• Do not plan Strasbourg for the week after Christmas. The FAQ is explicit that the chalets are finished on the 24th.
• An older city PDF still circulating online gives 26 November. The current FAQ and the tourism office say 27 November. Follow those.

Getting there

Strasbourg station, then a tram across the island or a 15-minute walk to Place Kléber.

When to go

A Monday or Tuesday morning in the first week of December.
