What to notice

• One organiser, two squares, one set of dates. Do not assume every neighbourhood market in Prague follows them.
• The season runs past New Year, which is why Prague is useful when the German markets have closed.

What to eat and drink

Unless a sentence names its source, these are specialities associated with the city, not a confirmed menu for 2026. Stall lists change every season.

• Trdelník, the spit cake, and svařák, the local mulled wine, are what the squares are known for. The organiser’s homepage does not publish a menu, and the cake is as much a tourist product as a tradition.

Planning notes

• See Old Town Square in the morning and leave before the evening crowd fills the astronomical clock.
• Wenceslas Square is broader and less pretty. It is the one to use if Old Town Square is impassable.
• Pickpockets work this square in December. Ordinary caution, not a special warning.

Metro Staroměstská or Můstek. Prague main station is a short metro ride.
