The season

Monday–Thursday 11:00–21:00, Friday and Saturday 11:00–22:00, Sunday 11:00–21:00. Special hours on the organiser’s page include 24 December 10:00–14:00, 25–26 December midday–18:00, 29–30 December 11:00–21:00, and New Year’s Eve 11:00–03:00. The end date here is the morning the organiser calls “the dawn of the new year”.

What to notice

• It is one of the earliest openings in this guide, alongside Vienna.
• The Basilica market is separate. Do not assume these hours apply there.

What to eat and drink

Unless a sentence names its source, these are specialities associated with the city, not a confirmed menu for 2026. Stall lists change every season.

• Kürtőskalács, the chimney cake, and forralt bor are what Budapest’s markets are known for. The hours page does not publish a menu.

Planning notes

• Christmas Eve ends at 14:00 in the special-hours list.
• New Year’s Eve runs until 03:00. That is a party, not a quiet browse.
• Read the craft-exhibitor note. The square can stay open after the makers have left.

Getting there

Metro M1 Vörösmarty tér, the oldest underground line, stops on the square. Keleti station is a metro ride away.

A weekday in late November, when the market is open and the city is not yet in holiday week.
