The season
Sunday to Thursday 11:00–22:00, Friday and Saturday 11:00–23:30. New Year’s Eve, the page says, stays open until 03:00.
What to notice
- Bruges opens a week before Brussels and runs to the same early-January end.
- The town is the attraction. The market should not be the only reason, and it does not need to be.
What to eat and drink
Unless a sentence names its source, these are specialities associated with the city, not a confirmed menu for 2026. Stall lists change every season.
- Flemish stew and hot chocolate are the town’s cold-weather food. The market page does not fix a stall menu.
Planning notes
- Stay overnight. Day-trippers from Brussels leave, and the town becomes itself.
- New Year’s Eve is a late licence, not a quiet market. Choose it on purpose.
Getting there
Bruges station, then a 15–20 minute walk or a bus to the Markt. Trains from Brussels take about an hour.

A Monday or Tuesday in early December, after the market has opened and before the weekend coaches.
