Aachen Christmas Market
Aachener Weihnachtsmarkt
20 November – 23 December 2026
Source: aachenweihnachtsmarkt.de · read 2 November
The market under the cathedral and the town hall. The organiser publishes 20 November to 23 December 2026.
The season
Daily 11:00–21:00, except Totensonntag, 22 November, when the page lists 18:00–21:00. Saturday 12 December is described as a longer market day; the exact late close is on aachenweihnachtsmarkt.de.
What to notice
- Unlike several other German cities, Aachen does not close on Remembrance Sunday. It shortens the day to the evening.
- The organiser’s site says the market received an “Excellent European Christmas Market” mark on 22 April 2026. That is their award claim, not our ranking.
What to eat and drink
Unless a sentence names its source, these are specialities associated with the city, not a confirmed menu for 2026. Stall lists change every season.
- Aachener Printen, the spiced biscuit, are the thing the city is known for. Buy them from a baker in town if the stall you want has a queue.
Planning notes
- On 22 November, come after 18:00 or do not come.
- Aachen is an easy add-on to Cologne. The journey is under an hour.
Getting there
Aachen Hauptbahnhof is about 10–15 minutes on foot from the cathedral.
When to go
A weekday evening, when the cathedral is lit and the day-trippers from the Rhineland have not all stayed.
